A unique retreat in Gozo
Buy, Sell or Rent Property in Gozo
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the Maltese Islands, the archipelago is made up of three main islands, with Malta being the largest (316km2) and busiest, followed by Gozo (67km2) and Comino (3.5km2). It’s on the laid back and charming island of Gozo that one finds Ramla Bay (Ramla il-Hamra in Maltese meaning Red Sands), which in recent years has been continually voted as one of the best sandy beaches in the world; including leading publications such as The Guardian and The Telegraph in the UK. Indeed, the latter referred to it as “a curving bay of fiery-coloured sands flanked by twin rocky headlands and backed by dunes thick with tamarisk and bamboo.”
It’s here, perched high up on the cliffs overlooking this incredible beach (with its “ochre sand and deep blue sea”) that we find our featured property, which surely has one of the most unique and enviable positions possible in the Mediterranean. This fully detached Villa has breathtaking, panoramic views out over the bay and on to the open sea, whilst also having (in-excess) of 4000m2 of magnificent landscaped gardens complete with grassy lawns, mature trees and exquisite flowers. This is especially impressive when one considers that large gardens in the Maltese Islands are quite a rarity given the limited available land mass and the high population density.
The property itself is accessed by a drive-way which is flanked by palm trees and other exotic flora whilst enjoying a fantastic layout including a ground floor with an entrance hall, fitted kitchen/breakfast, living/dining room, guest toilet and a large sitting room with the spectacular sea views, whilst upstairs on the first floor, there are a total of 5 bedrooms (all with en-suite bathroom facilities). Furthermore, the property has multiple sun terraces, a water well, solar panels and water heating systems as well as a large parking area and a shaded car-port. Lastly, there’s a fantastic secluded swimming pool area, with plenty of space for entertaining and enjoying the long hot summers (let’s not forget the Maltese Islands benefit from approximately 300 days of sunshine a year!)
Seeing is truly believing with this ‘one of a kind’ home as there simply aren’t enough words to describe how privileged the location is with its rolling sea views out over this highly regarded sandy beach, which, incidentally, is just a short walk below the property.
